Dorm Hacks

Hey Dawgs! UW Lavin is happy to present our first year of: Dorm Hacks!
Dorm Hacks is a fun creative competition where you get to showcase some useful/resourceful trick living in a dorm! All you have to do is:

Step 1

Film, edit, and perfect your dorm hack

Step 2

Submit your entry to our form for our exec to approve (found on our Instagram @uwlavin)

Step 3

Prove you're a husky (Seattle campus) to ensure your eligibility



And done! You're in the running. Keep checking in with your dorm hack to see where it stands!

Countdown Until Deadline!

Our form will close on October 15th at 11:59 PM (Pacific Standard Time). Make sure you make your submission by then, in order for your Dorm Hack to be considered!

Rules and Guidelines


  1. Only students at the UW Seattle campus are eligible to submit.
    You are required to provide a photo of your Husky ID upon submission. 
  2. The dorm hack must be able to be reasonably created and/or done in a dorm, apartment, or small living space (a room) and be useful in some way to living in the said space.
  3. Creativity is Encouraged!
    Make your Dorm Hack one that's remembered!
  4. Must be your own unique hack or unique version of a hack that you have physically created yourself or with your group in a tangible form (i.e. artwork, craft, prototype, meal, diagram, etc.). Plagiarism of others’ hacks or videos of others’ hacks’ results in immediate disqualification from the competition.
  5. The hack must be relatively appropriate for a public, 18+, college audience. Submissions are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and once approved, will be posted on a public Instagram account. 
  6. The video of your dorm hack must be 1 minute or less
    Please also ensure your submission is in a format we can view across multiple devices
  7. There is a limit of 1 prize per person.
     If you submit multiple hacks and win in multiple categories, you only win 1 prize. 
  8. There is a limit of 10 individual submissions per person,
    which includes group submissions that an individual has worked on. 
  9. If you win a prize for a group submission,
    the prize is split amongst all members. 
  10. Groups that create submissions
     may have at most 5 members
